Seamstresse’s Appointment

Please let us know when you would like to book your seamstress appointment

for any adjustments and alterations to your dress

When will I need to see the tailor?

We recommend around 8 weeks before your Wedding for your first tailoring seamstress appointment. We will contact you when the dress has arrived and arrange for you to see the dress at the boutique or alternatively attend your tailoring appointment straight away.

Can my family/friends come to my tailor fitting?

If your family and friends hasn’t seen the dress before, you can make an appointment at the boutique first to show them your gown. The fitting appointment and tailoring is a shorter time therefore it is more focused for the actual fitting and pinning purposes. It is therefore best to see the dress at a longer appointment for the first time especially for your friends and family. You can also purchase your veil and accessories at this time. Please let us know in advanced we can allow a 30min extra appointment as we don’t want you to be rushed.

The Seamstress

We are so lucky to work with a very talented seamstress, and she can conduct fittings from the boutique or from her own studios which is not far from us. Almost all dresses – even those purchased in our flash sales will need some alterations in order for it to fit you perfectly.

The Seamstress will give you a detailed quote at your first fitting and payments are paid direct to them once you know and agree what need to be done.

Of course we are happy if you would like to use-or source your own seamstress.

Can I book to  see the tailor for my fitting and pay my final balance at that time?

Of course, we understand most brides are super busy, if you don’t require the extra appointment at the boutique, you can take your appointment straight away for the tailoring appointment where you can make payment of your final balance and we will have your gown all ready for you.

We also have our most popular veils and hair pieces for you to try on and order there. Please let us know at the time of booking if you require any specific accessories so we can have them ready, but we can fit you with different styles so you can take your pick.

How many fittings will be required?

Usually 1 or 2 fittings are required to make your gown look perfect on you. The tailor will discuss this with you in detail at your pinning session. Express tailoring is possible if you are flying in from overseas, a rush service is available. Please enquire.

What happens at my first fitting appointment?

Your first fitting appointment is for 1 hour and will be for pinning in the gown and fixing hem length. Your second appointment will be for checking those adjustments. If you are having customisations and adjusting Jackets etc, you may require more sessions. You will be asked to check the gown and confirm that you are happy with the gown before the tailor can start work on it. You can pay your final balance if you haven’t already done so.

Do I have to pay for the Tailoring Service?

We work with an excellent and very experienced tailoring company.

Tailoring cost for a standard fitting of a gown is approximate £250 – £350, the exact amount will be given to you by the Seamstress as each gown is different. After the final fitting, the seamstress will press the gown and pack for you in our Bridal Gown Carry Bag ready to take home. You only pay for your tailoring cost once you both agree what alterations and adjustments you’d like to have done, and will not stop until you are totally happy with the fit.

I am getting married abroad, how do I take my dress with me?

We recommend that you do not let your gown out of your sight therefore it is best to take it as a hand carrier. Our Bridal Gown Bag can be carried on board (it is like a large suit bag , but please check with the airline). Alternatively, if it is a lightweight gown, you can purchase our airplane standard hand carrier box for £40. You can use this for the storage of your gown after the wedding too.

What do I have to bring to my tailoring appointments?

Most importantly your Wedding shoes and Wedding undergarment which you will be wearing on your wedding day. This is to ensure the length and the body of your Gown will be fitting perfectly for you.

Please ensure to bring these to all your fittings.

I want to lose weight before my wedding

If you are going to lose weight dramatically, we recommend you to be at your happy wedding weight before your first tailoring appointment when you are being pinned as further tailoring work due to dramatic weight fluctuation could result in additional work for the seamstresses.

Please remember at your first fitting

Please do not wear heavy jewellery whilst try on your gown and no lipstick / foundation or fake tan. These can ruin our gowns and spoil them for other brides to be.

I wanted to change my shoes after my first fitting, what do I do?

Please do not hesitate to contact the tailor asap if you have queries on any aspects of the fit of your gown, the team will be more than happy to book you back in for another look with you before any work is done. The team have worked on literally hundreds of Wedding Gown fittings and personal customisations in the past so don’t be afraid to discuss any queries large or small during the process.
